Landscape identities

As a spatial designer I visit many places and I do a lot of historical and landscape development researching. Every now and then these places inspire to do some landscape portraying.

Over de dijk / About the dike, 2020, 120 x 120 cm oil on panel

The diptych ‘Over de dijk’ / ‘About the dike’ is part of a visual research on landscape identities. This painting shows the dike between the small villages Rossum and Hurwenen. With a birds eye view I choose an alienating perspective to show the vastness of this river made landscape.

As a visiting artist at Kunstgenieloods (Zaanstad) in the summer of 2020 I spent a week in complete solitude, just me and my paintings. I walked a lot and made a series of portraits of the typical Dutch landscape in this beautifull area. I wrote this blog about my stay there (in Dutch).
